Lesson 15 – Vocabulary: Days and Months

In this section, we will learn how to tell about our birthdays in Indonesian language. So, we can say:

Saya lahir pada tanggal 26 April 1989.

Notes

In bahasa Indonesia, we mention the date first, then followed by the month and the year. 

To tell about the time, we use preposition ‘pada’.

If we mention the date first, we must also say ‘tanggal’ (date). Saya lahir pada tanggal 16 Mei 2001.

If we mention the day first, we must also say ‘hari’ (day). Saya lahir pada hari Selasa, 25 Agustus 1985.

If we mention the month first, we must also say ‘bulan’ (month). Saya lahir pada bulan Oktober 1999.

If we mention the year, we must also say ‘tahun’ (year). Saya lahir pada tahun 1993.

Below are the names of the days in Indonesian language.

Monday – Senin

Tuesday – Selasa

Wednesday – Rabu

Thursday – Kamis 

Friday – Jumat

Saturday – Sabtu

Sunday – Minggu

Below are the names of the months in Indonesian language.

  • January – Januari
  • February – February
  • March – Maret
  • April – April
  • May – Mei
  • June – Juni
  • July – Juli
  • August – Agustus
  • September – September
  • October – Oktober
  • November – November
  • December – Desember
